Well, first I want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July weekend. So to celebrate this 4th of July, I spent most of today working in the yard setting up a new lighting system. This along with many other things had been moved farther and farther down the dreaded "todo list" until today.

So, as I follow through on the ideas that were presented to me at the PUG meeting by Jasmine star. I have come up with 6 possible logos. Lazy Sunday

During the last week, Julia and I have been tossing around the idea of going on a walk along the sunset cliffs and then having lunch at one of our favorite places, South Beach Bar & Grill. Today (after sleeping in) we were actually motivated enough to drive to Sunset Cliffs and then go for a long walk followed by a leisurely lunch. South Beach is one of my favorite places to eat for one simple reason: it has the best fish tacos that I have ever tasted. This is one of the only places in San Diego where, no matter who you talk to, people have nothing but great things to say about it. After a great lunch we took our time and explored our way along the cliffs going back to our car. Now… back home enjoying the Sunday afternoon with the dogs.

Who am I and how does it affect my “Brand”?

During the meeting Jasmine Star asked a very important question. Who am I? This question took some time for me to wrap my head around. At first I drew a complete blank. Then, after some time and talking to those who are closest to me, I started to figure myself out. Once I really thought about "who I am", I was able to put it into words: (1) I am a thoughtful person who cares so much about helping everyone close to me; (2) I am very detail oriented (as my history as an accountant might suggest); (3) I am a passionate person, especially about the people closest to me and about topics I strongly believe in.

Now that I have put some of "me" into words, I need to find what marketing materials appeal to me. I have spent the better part of two days combing other sites trying to find elements that appeal to me and there are a few that I have discovered for one reason or another that I love what they have done. These three I admire most Becker with [b]school, Jessica Claire with shoot sac, and Doug Boutwell with Totally Rad Actions. These brands really appeal to me and I guess I will have to go from there. San Diego PUG Meeting with Jasmine Star

Last night, our monthly PUG meeting was held at the Handlery Hotel because we were graced with the opportunity to hear Jasmine Star speak about her theory behind branding (along with other topics). First, Jasmine is absolutely awesome. I love the way that it wasn't about just getting the information out to so many photographers, but rather to personally connect with so many. For those of you who may not know Jasmine is one of the hottest photographers around right now. She is doing several events right now like the "Free to Succeed tour" with David Jay. How great is that!!! The few photographers that I really admire are Jasmine Star, David Jay, and last but certainly not least, Becker. I admire these photographers because of their work and their efforts to help other photographers continue to succeed at what they do.

So, what I have taken from hearing from Jasmine speak last night is that I need to really start getting my brand together. This is something that has been neglected on my end. Last night gave me the kick in the pants that was needed to get the ball rolling. Starting today I am going to start putting it together.

I want to also send out a special thanks to Jeff & Erin Youngren for putting this together.

Andrea and Mike's Wedding

Andrea and Mike are absolutely awesome! These two had a great wedding and I loved being apart of their special day. They got married at the Mission Inn in Riverside. I really love this place for many reasons. One of many being this is where me and my wife got married. I was first introduced to Abby many years ago when my wife attended law school with her. As the years have progressed I have always been impressed with Abby's warmth and kindness. So I was truly happy to hear that Abby had found such a great partner in Ollie. Abby and Ollie are truly one of the most amazing couple I have ever met. I hope that we are blessed with them in our lives for many years to come. Here are a few images that were taken Saturday:

New Camera!!!

Well, after a long debate and a close decision I have decided to go with the "Nikon D300" as my new camera. I am not ready to make the move to a "Nikon D3" yet but hopefully someday soon. Also, under close consideration was the "Canon 5D". So, hopefully this week I will be ordering my new camera!!!!

So once a year we all gather to acknowledge the special someone in our lives. For me this is my lovely wife Julia. She is the one, who has helped me in so many ways, that I struggle on a daily basis to find the words to thank her. Amazing New World!!!

Well, it happened on 02/01/2008 the first Production model available for sale in the U.S. arrived at Tesla's headquarters. This marks a milestone in its development. Although a couple of Quarters behind (which is very good for a start up Car Company) this electric vehicle is the first step in getting more all electric models on the road. Soon they will be delivering many of these vehicles to waiting customers!!! Happy Day!!!

As I grow as a "Wedding Photographer" I am trying to emphasis on getting better exposure for my services. So, just recently, I added my business contact information to “WeddingWire”. This is a great tool for brides to research wedding vendors and read reviews from other brides who have used these vendors. I personally prefer this site to “The Knot” because as the knot has grown over the years and has become overwhelming.

As it looks like we are headed for a weekend of rain, I will be spending sometime indoors, trying to finish some of the projects that for one reason or another haven’t been completed. I guess that’s why they call them rainy day projects. Although, would much rather be in Hawaii as my better half is currently there. More pictures to come as I will have a good amount of time to edit photos this weekend. As far as shoots go there will be no shoots this weekend due to rain.

January ABC meeting for San Diego

This month the local ABC meeting for San Diego was held at the US Grant hotel in downtown. The place was really nice after they finished their $56 million dollar renovation. Melissa and Karl were married at a location called “Angels Landing” which from its name set a tone for a very intimate event and didn’t disappoint. Kecia and Chris are a wonderful couple who met about 15 years ago through the turmoil’s of life they had married and then divorced. Several years later they decided through their mutual love for God that they would give their relationship another try. This blossomed into a wonderful relationship that is stronger than ever. In a very small and intimate ceremony with only close family and friends they recommitted their lives to each other through their remarriage. These are a few of the images:

Nora and Josh got married on one of the biggest wedding days of this year. 07-07-07 marked a major point in the century that couples wanted to get married on. This wonderful young couple camped out for days waiting for the Ole Hanson mansion to open its doors for bookings for that day. For their determination they were rewarded with a beautiful wedding. Recently, before all of the wild fires, I was hiking through some of the burn area's of 2003. I took these photos about 2 weeks before the last fire ripped through the same area's. It is sort of sad to think that these area's were just starting to recover when they were burnt once again.

As this is my first post to my new blog, which I am moving from my last blog to here, I should let everyone know a little about myself. I have been involved with photography in one way or another for the last 12 years or so. It started out as a hobby - just taking classes to get through school - and then turned into a passion of mine. I have been blessed, in that I have had the opportunity, to have taken pictures all over the world through my travels. About a year and a half ago I started my own wedding business after deciding to transform my passion into my business. Over the next couple of weeks I will start to post pictures of my work from previous weddings that I have shot.
